The Bush Leagues Podcast, Episode 5

Episode 5 is now posted for your listening pleasure. Our good friend Rob Rasmussen joins us for some friendly banter. We dive into trade possibilities and also run through our favorite baseball movies of all-time. Then we take those movies and build our all-star lineups from fictional movie characters.

*Please note: This was recorded on Saturday May 30th prior to the 2-1 series win against the Angels.

Episode 5

Enjoy!

  1. Pretty good blogcast, Garbs needs to do a little more research before stepping up to the plate, but nice tangents otherwise. Rob, I'm going to start calling you the bra, because on this blogcast, you held up a couple of boobs. Just kidding, it was funny, I just had to use that line. Anyway, keep it coming.

Oh and btw, when I said more tangents, I was just kidding, but it was funny none the less.

I do want some more talk about our hot and cold relief pitching. One night they're great, the next they blow...what are we going to see the rest of the season? Also, why is it so important that we get rid of Bedard? I know he hasn't been worth what we paid him, but I'm willing to bet as soon as we trade him, he wins 10 games in a row.

Another topic for the next blog could be the greatest team of all time, compiled with only players the Mariners have traded away...i.e. Randy Johnson, A Rod, Griffey, etc.

  2. Relief pitching is so streaky because they're exhausted. Putting up with 5 and 6 innings from Jakubauskas, Olson, Vargas and sometimes Bedard is going to take a toll on the bullpen.

It's only important to get rid of Bedard if the Mariners are out of contention. Right now, they're still in it. But when they aren't, you have to get rid of him and try to get 1 or 2 players back. You can't look at what he'll do for a team once we get rid of him...we can't control that. The truth is, at the end of this season he's gone anyway. Yeah sure, there's talk about how he enjoys Seattle, but I wouldn't take that at much value. And even if he does want to stay in Seattle, you can always try to sign him in the offseason.

All-time M's team would be good...but I'd hardly call it the greatest. You could pull some pretty good lineups from All-time teams such as the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Braves, Phillies...hell even the Twins would have a pretty sick team.
